Priorities

The Network is currently focusing its efforts on the following areas:

  1. Precinct development and enhancement. Motivating more precincts to action, which includes grass roots precinct work—reviewing and correcting precinct lists, helping to fill precinct vacancies, working with precinct leadership to enhance efforts, door-to door-canvassing at appropriate times

  2. Voter registration, with an emphasis on women and minorities. This is a year-round statewide project under the leadership of The Network’s Task Force for New Democrats, which has developed specific strategies for success in registering Democrats. (Please read letter from Carolyn Holmes, state co-chair of the Task Force.) Volunteers go door-to-door in specifically selected precincts, and continue to register at specific sites and at Democratic Party, special and festival events. They carry registration cards at all times to enroll friends, family and new acquaintances.

  3. Recruitment of new members and completion of The Network’s statewide organization, from County Organizations to Regional Branches

  4. Education of voters about the Democratic Party values, principles, history and accomplishments ranging from GI Bill to Head Start in education, from Social Security to Civil Rights in human resources, and the economy. "Talk-ups"—a modern, streamlined version of neighborhood coffees-- will be the instrument that will be stressed this coming year.
